The NFPA Annual Conference, perhaps the best networking event in the fluid power industry, is coming to San Antonio’s La Cantera resort in March, with a great lineup. Industry leaders will meet from March 9-11 at the resort 20 miles northwest of downtown.
One of the things I always enjoy about this event is the breadth and quality of the speakers that the NFPA schedules. And this year’s list of speakers looks to be fantastic! Here’s a brief rundown of some highlights:
Sarah HunterΒ of Oxford Economics will discuss major economic trendsβboth within U.S. and internationallyβand how they will affect futureΒ planning.Β Sarah will draw upon Oxford research, and her own work in the energy sector, to offer likely future scenarios of the economic and competitive landscape.
Jamie SmithΒ of National Instruments will examine new data sources and insights in the age of the Internet of Things.Β This megatrend is generating massive amounts of data from a wide range of new data sources.Β The big source of new data is analog data, coming from sensors tied to machines, electronic devices, and the environment. Big data sources are all around us (light, RF signals, vibrations, temperatures), and we’ll need new architectures and approaches to manage and process this data to drive business impact.
Scott Klososky, a former CEO of three successful tech startup companies and principal at consulting firmΒ Future Point of View, specializes in seeing beyond the horizon of how technology is changing the world. His unique perspectives on technology, business culture, and how to manage todayβs explosion of information will allow attendeesΒ to find solutions for innovation dilemmas.
Mark ThompsonΒ of Decision Processes International will discussΒ the importance of functioning effectively at the intersection of strategy development and implementationβandΒ readyingΒ the millennial generation within companies for leadership, and instilling elements of mental toughness that will help millennials lead effectively. Mark will draw upon his extensive experience as well as a survey of NFPA members conducted in advance of the conference.
Amy WalterΒ of the Cook Political Report will examine events taking place on the political stage, not just as a political handicapper, but more importantly, how political change driven by the presidential race might be expected to affect regulatory issues, technology funding, taxation and trade.
