Founded more than 100 years ago in Kalamazoo, Mich., has a long history of innovations, dating back to the commercialization of gaslight products in 1901. Several products came from the innovative inventions of the Humphrey family, including Radiantfire gas heaters, gas fired rotisseries and gas water heaters.
By the 1930s, Humphrey expanded into the home and office forced-air heating market with the invention of the air unit that hung from the ceiling. After the war, Humphrey redesigned the gaslight and Cook-kit barbeque to support the growing travel trailer market and the public acceptance of LP gas. During the 1960s, Humphrey began to manufacture pneumatic valves. It was also during this time when Humphrey and Japan-based Koganei Corp. became the first independent North American and Japanese manufacturers of pneumatics to join forces. Today, Humphreyβs expertise in a wide range of markets and industries is based on time-tested technologies and proven through its line of standard products.
